How Can You Plan the Ultimate Vacation in Mammoth Lakes?

If you’re headed to Mammoth Lakes, CA, this summer, there are plenty of things to see and do. Here are some of the area activities that you can’t miss!

Mammoth Mountain Adventure Center

The Adventure Center is the central hub for planning all your Mammoth Lakes summer activities. Here, you can book every outdoor adventure. These activities include the ropes course, bungee trampoline, junior zip line, a STACYC (electric bicycle) track, a climbing wall, and a mining area. You can access a two-hour or full day pass to enjoy all the activities here. It’s the ultimate experience for both adults and kids.

This is also where you will get everything you need to access the Bike Park and Via Ferrata trails. There is also a shuttle ride, gondola, and veterans climbing area that you will find via the Adventure Center.

On the gondola, you’ll get a 360 view of the Sierra Mountains from 11,056 feet, and at the summit, you’ll have your pick of activities.

After you’ve had your fill of adventures, you can wind down with some food or a beer. There are plenty of choices. At the Adventure Center, you will find everything you need to complete your summer mountain vacation.

Mammoth Bike Park

Mammoth Bike Park is the premier lift-served bike park in the US. It is a must for Mammoth Mountain things to do. After getting your ticket at the Adventure Center, you’ll have access to over 80 miles of trails. It doesn’t matter if you’re a beginner or a pro; either is excellent. The bike park offers trails for every stage of riding. If you’re a beginner, there are plenty of more accessible trails to get you accustomed to riding in the mountains, or if you’re a professional, you can try out some of the expert-level DH trails. They even offer electric mountain bikes if you’re worried about tiring out on your ride.

Bike rentals are also available and are separate from the park passes. Whatever your level of expertise, you’ll be fully prepared for an excellent ride and some stunning views. Just make sure to review bike etiquette rules and the rider’s responsibilities. Then, you’ll be ready to hit the trails!

Guided Climbing Adventures

A challenging but family-friendly adventure is the guided climbing of the Via Ferrata. Via Ferrata means “iron path” in Italian. You don’t need any experience to club the rugged cliffs of Mammoth Mountain. All climbing routes have been established using steel cables, iron rungs, and suspended bridges fixed to the rock that climbers are attached to for safety.

Six different climbing routes gradually progress in difficulty. Your guide will help you pick the correct route if you’re unsure which route to go with. All tours are guided and private, with a guide-to-guest ratio of 1:4, and the climb is about three hours long. Make sure to bring water, sunscreen, and sunglasses. Safety equipment is provided. Be sure to book your climb at least two days in advance. You don’t want to miss this!
