The OCR World Championships is an annual event that tests the limits of participants through various obstacle courses that require physical and mental toughness, agility, strength, and technical skills. The event has several categories, including the weekend pass, 100M championship, 3K championship, 15K championship, team relay championships, and the 5K charity open. The weekend pass allows participants to take on all four individual distances over the championship weekend. The 100M championship is an all-out sprint with an emphasis on precision and technique. Time trials throughout the weekend culminate in a head-to-head Sunday afternoon playoff for the title. The 3K championship is engineered for speed, featuring 15+ obstacles that will guarantee to leave participants breathless at the finish line. The 15K championship is the original independent obstacle course racing championship established in 2014. The race takes on 40+ obstacles spread across the rough mountainous terrain. The team relay championships allow teams of three to take on 25+ obstacles on a four-leg, 6K course. The first three legs are in a relay format, with each focusing on a specific aspect of OCR: speed, strength, and technique. All three athletes tackle the fourth leg together before crossing the finish line as a team. Lastly, the 5K charity open is a fun race designed to introduce friends, family, or co-workers to the world of OCR, all while raising funds for some fantastic causes.
OCR World Championship Course Details
The OCR World Championships in Mammoth Lakes feature 3 different categories throughout the competition, which include technical, agility, and strength obstacles. Each challenge involves a variety of obstacles that test the different athletic abilities of participants. The technical challenges include Pendulum, Canyon, Ricochet, Gibbons, Valkyrie, Skitch, Urban Sky Rig, La Gaffe Du Draveur, Skull Valley, Force 5 Rig, Snake Pig, Rope Climb, and Stairway to Heaven. The agility challenges include Force 5 Over Under, Triumph, Hurdles, Slant Wall, 8 Foot Wall, Finish Wall, Rope Wall, and Crawl Jacks. Lastly, the strength challenges include the Wreck Bag Carry and Hoist.
